The Kruger National Park is a South African National Park and one of the largest game reserves in Africa.
Originally known as The Sabi Game Reserve, it became a game reserve in 1898.
The park became known as Kruger National Park in 1926, when it was named after Paul Kruger.
On 31 May 1926 the National Parks Act was proclaimed and with it the merging of the Sabie and Shingwedzi Game Reserves into the Kruger National Park.
The first motorists entered the park in 1927 for a fee of one pound.

Kruger National Park 1 Day Trip 1.Tour departs from Limpopo Big Game Safaris Lodge 5:00 a.m. The experienced guide will take you on an easy, relaxing trip highlighted with fascinating and informative facts. After entering the Park at Pafuri Gate we will make our way to Crooks Corner. Crooks' Corner got its name from the outlaws who lived there in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Because of the three sovereign territories that met at the confluence of the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers - Portuguese East Africa, Southern Rhodesia and South Africa - it was relatively easy to avoid the law by hopping over into a neighbouring territory. 2.From Crooks Corner we will make our way to the Thulamela Archaeological Site. Thulamela, an ancient fortress overlooking the Luvuvhu River, was the political capital of an Iron-Age kingdom between 1200 AD and 1640 AD. The name is derived from the Shona phrase meaning "giving birth". Thulamela was "discovered" by a Park ranger in 1991 and much of the site has been restored. 3.From Thulamela we will make our way to Punda Maria rest Camp via the Main Road. The landscape is a beautiful mopane savanna and there are some wonderful stands of this tree and usually elephant and buffalo to be seen. When we arrive at Punda Maria we will enjoy lunch, there will be a change to buy some souvenirs at the curio shop. 4.After lunch we will travel the Mahogany Loop that is situated around Punda Maria Rest Camp. Here we a change to spot the rare and very small Suni and Sharpe’s Grysbok. Kudu and Nyala can be found roaming on the roads and Leopard, Wild Dog and Lion has also been spotted occasionally. 5.From Mahogany Loop we will travel back to Pafuri Gate via the Klopperfontein route. Klopperfontein is the main centre of animal activity between Punda Maria and the Luvuvhu River. It is a transition zone between the mopaneveld and the sandveld, so there is a diversity of vegetation and animal life. After exiting the Klopperfontein route we travel back to Pafuri gate where we will exit the park and travel back to Limpopo Big Game Safari Lodge
